Through 300 pm, a band of showers and embedded thunderstorms across the offshore Gulf waters, western Straits of Florida, western Hawk Channel, and the western Gulfside waters appears to have slowed down once again and seems to look like it is nearly stationary or moving slowly eastward near 5 knots. The rain continues for the Dry Tortugas and is expected to do so for the next few hours. This activity will be capable of moderate to heavy downpours reducing visibilities, wind gusts to near 30 knots, and frequent cloud to ground lightning strikes. Also, estimated 6 hourly rainfall amounts according to MRMS (Multi- radar, Multi Sensor) to the north of the Dry Tortugas have been 4 to 6 inches in a fairly wide area with pockets inside this wide area of 6 to 11 inches. $$ MJV
