Through 600 am, a cluster of scattered showers and isolated
thunderstorms will wax and wane across portions of the Upper Keys, as
well as the adjacent coastal waters of the Florida Bay, Eastern Hawk
Channel, and the eastern Straits of Florida out to 20 nm. Movement
of this activity will be somewhat chaotic, but generally to the north
to east at 5 to 10 knots. Mariners encountering the strongest of
this activity can expect blinding downpours, wind gusts near 20
knots, and a few cloud to surface lightning strikes. Island
communities east of Tavenier can expect to see up to an additional
half of an inch of rainfall.
