For the vast majority of the month, ridges of high pressure, generally offshore flow, and warm air advection dominated the weather over the Panhandle, which kept surface conditions dry, skies clear to partly cloudy, and temperatures warm for the month. Therefore, for all 4 climate sites, the average monthly temperature was above normal and the total monthly precipitation was below normal for the month of July. We had a small handful of relatively quick-moving weather systems scattered throughout the month that generally brought mostly cloudy to cloudy skies and rain to SE AK and kept temperatures moderated for those days, but not enough to bring any of the climate sites up to normal for rainfall or down to normal for temperatures. Additionally, Sitka Airport tied their record high temperature of 73 that was previously set back in 1994. Chambers $$
