933 FZUS63 KMKX 190151 GLFLM OPEN LAKE FORECAST for Lake Michigan National Weather Service Milwaukee/Sullivan WI 851 PM CDT Wed Sep 18 2024 FOR WATERS BEYOND FIVE NAUTICAL MILES OF SHORE ON Lake Michigan. Waves are provided as a range of significant wave heights, which is the average of the highest 1/3 of the wave, along with the average height of the highest 10% of the waves which will occasionally be encountered. .SYNOPSIS... Light winds and increasing humidity may lead to patchy fog across the northern third of the lake late tonight into early Thursday morning. High pressure around 30.2 inches over New England will gradually weaken and drift east on Thursday, with low pressure over the Plains strengthening to 29.2 inches. This will produce south- southeast winds Thursday into Friday. A weak front will push southeastward across the open waters Thursday night into Friday, bringing showers and isolated thunderstorms. Drier conditions are expected Saturday before another area of low pressure around 29.6 inches begins to push into the Great Lakes region early next week, with winds becoming generally easterly ahead of this system. As low pressure approaches, additional shower and thunderstorm chances develop. More westerly winds are expected behind the system.
