Rating: EF1 Estimated Peak Wind: 90 mph Path Length /statute/: 1.58 miles Path Width /maximum/: 150 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: 05/26/2024 Start Time: 11:11 PM EDT Start Location: 3 ENE Flaherty / Meade County / KY Start Lat/Lon: 37.8525 / -86.0207 End Date: 05/26/2024 End Time: 11:12 PM EDT End Location: 1 WSW Red Hill / Meade County / KY End Lat/Lon: 37.854 / -85.9919 Survey Summary: The National Weather Service Louisville confirmed an EF1 tornado just north of Vine Grove. The tornado touched down off Old Fort Ave near Brownie Dr. There was some twisting of some cedar trees, some topping of maple trees, and one uprooted black walnut tree. Trees were facing from a northerly direction to an east southeasterly direction. Wind speeds are estimated to be between 80 and 85 mph, EF0, with a width of 100 yards. The tornado increased in strength near 3200 Knox Ave with trees topped and uprooted. A one story house had a large section of its roof ripped off. Debris from the house was thrown from the east southeast all the way to the north northeast. Drone photography was instrumental in determining it was a tornado. Wind speeds are estimated to be 90 mph, EF1, with a width of 150 yards. The tornado produced very sporadic tree damage, but lifted before reaching Hardin County. The storm survey team also found a very concentrated area of straight line wind damage along Laurel Ridge RD. Winds were estimated to be between 80 and 85 mph with the trees facing primary towards the NNE.
