513 FZUS63 KMQT 241946 GLFLS Open Lake Forecast for Lake Superior National Weather Service Marquette MI 346 PM EDT Fri May 24 2024 For waters beyond 5 nautical miles of shore on Lake Superior. Waves are the significant wave height - the average of the highest 1/3 of the wave spectrum. Occasional wave height is the average of the highest 1/10 of the wave spectrum. .SYNOPSIS...A 29.3 inch low pressure currently over Grand Forks, North Dakota is continuing to lift northeast this afternoon, reaching southeastern Manitoba by this evening. Meanwhile, an associated 29.6 inch trough sweeps across Lake Superior this afternoon through Saturday morning. In its wake, a 29.9 inch high pressure builds northeast into the western Great Lakes region on Saturday. The high then shifts toward New England on Sunday as the next low pressure of around 29.4 inches lifts northeast to southern Wisconsin. This low deepens to 29.3 inches as it tracks to near the Straits of Mackinac by Monday morning and then to around James Bay by Tuesday morning. In its wake, a 30.2 inch high pressure builds over the Northern Plains on Tuesday. This high pressure continues building to 30.3 inches by Wednesday as it shifts into the Upper Great Lakes.
