Open Lake Forecast for Lake Superior
National Weather Service Marquette MI
958 PM EDT Mon Jun 3 2024

For waters beyond 5 nautical miles of shore on Lake Superior.

Waves are the significant wave height - the average of the
highest 1/3 of the wave spectrum. Occasional wave height is the
average of the highest 1/10 of the wave spectrum.

.SYNOPSIS...Lake Superior is currently set between 29.9 inch
ridging over the Lower Great Lakes and a trough of 29.4 inches over
the west end of the Dakotas. On Tuesday, 29.2 inch low pressure
tracking across the Canadian Prairies will power the trough eastward
to the Upper Mississippi Valley. The trough will then sail across
Lake Superior Tuesday night and Wednesday morning while the parent
low pressure tracks from the Canadian Prairies toward northern
Ontario. The low weakens to 29.5 inches over far northeastern
Ontario Thursday through Thursday night while a 30.0 inch ridge
builds southeast into the Northern and Central Plains. This ridge
will drift toward the Mississippi Valley on Friday while the low
over far northeastern Ontario drifts east into Quebec, weakening to
29.6 inches.
