894 FZUS63 KMQT 021333 GLFLS Open Lake Forecast for Lake Superior National Weather Service Marquette MI 933 AM EDT Sun Jun 2 2024 For waters beyond 5 nautical miles of shore on Lake Superior. Waves are the significant wave height - the average of the highest 1/3 of the wave spectrum. Occasional wave height is the average of the highest 1/10 of the wave spectrum. .SYNOPSIS...A weak 30.0 inch high pressure ridge over the Upper Mississippi Valley will settle over the western Great Lakes today. As the ridge shifts to Quebec and the Lower Great Lakes during tonight, a 29.6 inch trough will sweep across the Northern Plains to Minnesota. On Monday, this trough will dissipate before reaching Lake Superior, leaving Lake Superior between 30.0 inch ridging over Quebec into the Lower Great Lakes and a new trough of 29.4 inches emerging over the western Dakotas. On Tuesday, 29.2 inch low pressure tracking across the Canadian Prairies will power the trough eastward to the Upper Mississippi Valley. The trough will then sail across Lake Superior Tuesday night and Wednesday morning while the parent low pressure tracks from the Canadian Prairies toward northern Ontario. On Thursday, the low, weakening to 29.3 inches, will slowly drift southeast across northern Ontario while a 30.0 inch high pressure ridge builds southeast into the Central Plains.
