206 FZUS63 KMQT 240754 GLFLS Open Lake Forecast for Lake Superior National Weather Service Marquette MI 354 AM EDT Fri May 24 2024 For waters beyond 5 nautical miles of shore on Lake Superior. Waves are the significant wave height - the average of the highest 1/3 of the wave spectrum. Occasional wave height is the average of the highest 1/10 of the wave spectrum. .SYNOPSIS...A 29.9 inch high pressure ridge extending from northern Manitoba to Lower Michigan will drift east, extending from Hudson Bay to the Lower Great Lakes by Friday evening. Meanwhile, 29.4 inch low pressure currently organizing over the Dakotas will lift northeast, reaching southeast Manitoba tonight. An associated 29.6 inch trough will sweep across Lake Superior during tonight and early Saturday morning. In its wake, a 29.9 inch high pressure will build northeast into the western Great Lakes region on Saturday. The high will shift toward New England on Sunday as the next low pressure of 29.4 inches lifts northeast to southern Wisconsin. This low will deepen to 29.3 inches as it tracks to near the Straits of Mackinac by Monday morning and then to near James Bay by Tuesday morning. In its wake, 30.2 inch high pressure will build over the Plains on Tuesday.
