CORRECTION - incorrect Forbes Lake Tornado width During the afternoon and early evening of May 26, 2024, five tornadoes touched down in the St. Louis metropolitan area and southwest Illinois. One tornado that impacted the southern St. Louis metropolitan area formed from a discrete supercell, while the other four tornadoes were associated with a QLCS that developed almost an hour later. Below is a summary of each tornado that was surveyed by NWS St. Louis teams. .Oakville Tornado... Rating: EF1 Estimated Peak Wind: 97 mph Path Length /statute/: 8.81 miles Path Width /maximum/: 172 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: 05/26/2024 Start Time: 05:48 PM CDT Start Location: 3 WSW Mehlville / St. Louis County / MO Start Lat/Lon: 38.485 / -90.3757 End Date: 05/26/2024 End Time: 06:02 PM CDT End Location: Columbia / Monroe County / IL End Lat/Lon: 38.4585 / -90.2177 Survey Summary: A weak tornado tracked through Oakville and crossed the Mississippi River uprooting trees and snapping large tree branches as well as damaging a carport and shed, until it lifted just west of Columbia. .New Baden Tornado... Rating: EF1 Estimated Peak Wind: 90 mph Path Length /statute/: 10.50 miles Path Width /maximum/: 500 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: 05/26/2024 Start Time: 06:34 PM CDT Start Location: 3 S Summerfield / St. Clair County / IL Start Lat/Lon: 38.551 / -89.752 End Date: 05/26/2024 End Time: 06:44 PM CDT End Location: 3 ESE Damiansville / Clinton County / IL End Lat/Lon: 38.4951 / -89.5733 Survey Summary: A weak tornado tracked immediately southwest of New Baden and through Damiansville occasionally snapping large tree branches, removing a large portion of a commercial garage roof, and causing minor roof damage before lifting to the southeast of Damiansville. .Carlyle Lake Tornado... The damage survey was not completed on the east side of Carlyle Lake where there was a report of power lines down, multiple trees down, and at least partial remove of a house`s roof. The current track and rating is preliminary based on inclusion of this report. .Forbes Lake Tornado...
