Update to the Carlyle Lake Tornado The Carlyle Lake Tornado track has been extended eastward on the east side of Carlyle Lake to just west of Hwy 51 with support of reports and photos of additional damage. The maximum wind and rating remain the same. .Carlyle Lake Tornado... Rating: EF1 Estimated Peak Wind: 97 mph Path Length /statute/: 18.50 miles Path Width /maximum/: 325 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: 05/26/2024 Start Time: 06:50 PM CDT Start Location: 2 SSW Stolletown / Clinton County / IL Start Lat/Lon: 38.6649 / -89.4605 End Date: 05/26/2024 End Time: 07:07 PM CDT End Location: 1 WNW Fairman / Marion County / IL End Lat/Lon: 38.6834 / -89.1236 Survey Summary: A tornado touched down north of Carlyle and tracked eastward significantly damaging a garage and shed, removing portions of a roof on a home, and breaking large branches off of trees. This tornado continued on the east side of the Carlyle Lake, where there were reports and photos of power lines down, multiple trees down, at least partial remove of a house`s roof, a barn destroyed, and the majority of another barn`s roof removed. The damage survey was not completed on the east side of Carlyle Lake, and rely on the support of these reports until the tornado was suspected to have lifted just west of Hwy 51. && EF Scale: The Enhanced Fujita Scale classifies tornadoes into the following categories: EF0.....65 to 85 mph EF1.....86 to 110 mph EF2.....111 to 135 mph EF3.....136 to 165 mph EF4.....166 to 200 mph EF5.....>200 mph NOTE: The information in this statement is preliminary and subject to change pending final review of the event and publication in NWS Storm Data. $$ Pfahler
