.DISCUSSION...
(Today through Wednesday)
Issued at 221 AM CDT Thu Sep 19 2024

Skies are mostly clear across the Mid-South early this morning
with temperatures in the mid 60s to around 70 degrees. Some patchy
areas of fog have developed over eastern parts of the region but
widespread areas of fog are not expected this morning.

The upper level ridge will remain over the central U.S. through
Sunday. This will result in continued dry weather through the
weekend. Patchy areas of fog could develop during the overnight
hours each day but it is not expected to be widespread.
Temperatures will remain above normal through Sunday with highs in
the upper 80s to lower 90s and lows in the mid 60s to around 70
degrees.

By Monday, the upper level ridge starts to break down as an upper
level low tracks across the Central Plains. A cold front will move
into western Arkansas on Monday and will stall out across the
Mid-South for Tuesday and Wednesday. Scattered showers and
thunderstorms will be possible ahead of the front during this
period. Temperatures will be cooler during this period especially
behind the cold front with highs in the mid to upper 70s.
