The forecast is on track for the remainder of the day, with no
significant updates anticipated.

.SHORT TERM...
Issued 327 AM CDT Fri May 31 2024

Today through Saturday:

After a chilly start to the day, temperatures are expected to
warm into the mid to upper 70s today, as light south to
southwest winds develop behind departing high pressure. A lake
breeze will likely bring cooler temperatures to the lakeshore
area by afternoon.

Lows tonight will fall into the mid to upper 50s, as clouds
increase ahead of shortwave energy approaching from the west and
southwest. This lift and increasing moisture will interact with
a decaying frontal zone to produce showers and thunderstorms
across the region on Saturday. The increased cloud cover and
precipitation chances will keep highs cooler on Saturday, with
mid to upper 60s to low 70s (warmest west) expected.

.LONG TERM...
Issued 327 AM CDT Fri May 31 2024

Saturday Night through Thursday:

High pressure will briefly build into and through the area
Saturday night and Sunday. With fresh rainfall on Saturday and
light and variable winds Saturday night, areas of fog will be
possible. Sunday looks to be dry and warm, with highs in the
upper 70s to around 80.

The first half of the workweek is looking to be rather warm and
active, with daily chances for showers and thunderstorms. A
decaying line of showers and thunderstorms may approach the area
Monday morning, and/or redevelop across the region during the
afternoon. Additional showers and storms are possible later
Tuesday into Wednesday, as a cold front moves through the area.
While still quite early, there appears to be some potential for
strong storms during the Tuesday/Wednesday timeframe.

Highs during this stretch are expected to be in the upper 70s
and low 80s, with overnight lows in the 60s.

.AVIATION...
Issued 928 AM CDT Fri May 31 2024

Quiet weather will continue today into tonight as high pressure
gradually heads east out of the region. Mid and high level
clouds will gradually increase from the west later today into
tonight ahead of an approaching trough. The trough and
associated surface low to the south are expected to bring shower
and storm chances to southern Wisconsin on Saturday.

.MARINE...
Issued 327 AM CDT Fri May 31 2024

High pressure over Ohio will move east into the Mid Atlantic by
Saturday morning. Light south to southwest winds are expected
today as the high moves east. Low pressure will then slide by
to the south on Saturday, resulting in east to north winds
across the southern lake, while winds will remain more southerly
in the north. Lighter and somewhat variable winds winds will
return on Sunday as high pressure briefly moves through the
area. Southerly winds will return and increase a bit early next
week ahead of the next approaching low.
