.Discussion...Deep moisture will be drawn northward today into
Thursday associated with Tropical Cyclone Helene, currently
located near the tip of the Yucatan peninsula and is forecast
to begin lifting northward into the eastern Gulf of Mexico later
today. Bands of locally heavy rain will produce increasingly gusty
winds, frequently gusting to tropical storm force by Thursday. There
will also be a tornado threat within the rainbands. Deep moisture
should linger across the Florida peninsula into the weekend and
keep rain chances above normal. Winds will shift out of the SW
Friday and Saturday and produce hot conditions with heat indices
102-108.
Fog potential and other remarks...Fog is not forecast this morning
or Thursday morning. Localized visibility reductions due to smoke
from new or existing fires will be possible even if fog is not forecast.
