Area Forecast Discussion...UPDATED
National Weather Service Mobile AL
125 PM CDT Wed Jun 19 2024

...New AVIATION, NEAR TERM UPDATE...

.AVIATION...
(18Z TAFS)
Issued at 125 PM CDT Wed Jun 19 2024

VFR conditions will generally prevail across the region through
the next 24 hours. The exception could be localized MVFR ceilings
and visibility reductions in association with isolated to
scattered SHRA/TSRA that will develop across portions of our
region this afternoon. Easterly winds will remain elevated between
10-15 knots over much of the area through the afternoon with
occasional gusts up to 20-25 knots. Easterly winds should
generally diminish to 10 knots or less by early this evening
except along the immediate coast/beaches. /21

.NEAR TERM UPDATE...
Issued at 125 PM CDT Wed Jun 19 2024

The forecast is generally on track this afternoon, but we did make
some slight adjustments to afternoon POPs, mainly to expand the
slight chance of showers into inland portions of southwest AL and
southeast MS this afternoon as a narrow plume of moisture advances
westward across our region.

Lifeguards are reporting double red flags flying at Gulf Shores,
Orange Beach, Pensacola Beach, Navarre Beach, and Destin as surf
remains very rough with breakers up to 5-7 feet along with
numerous/frequent rip currents. No changes were made to the
ongoing High Surf Advisory product in effect through 7 PM
Thursday. Surf should slowly subside into Friday. We did go ahead
and extend the High rip current risk out into Friday night. /21
