Seas given as significant wave height, which is the average
height of the highest 1/3 of the waves. Individual waves may be
more than twice the significant wave height.

Synopsis for the Gulf of Mexico

.SYNOPSIS...A broad area of low pressure is located over the
southwest Gulf this morning, with a mean 1005 mb center, AL93,
near 21N95.5W. Strong winds surround the low center to the S of
26N and W of 92W. Environmental conditions appear conducive for
gradual development of this system as it moves slowly west-
northwestward or northwestward, and a tropical depression could
form over the western Gulf of Mexico this weekend. Moderate to
fresh winds and moderate seas prevail E of 90W this morning and
will diminish to gentle to moderate and slight seas tonight and
to light to gentle speeds on Sun. Conditions are forecast to
improve W of 90W Sun afternoon into Mon as the low pressure
system moves inland across Mexico. Weak high pressure will
reside over the E central Gulf Tue and Wed.
