...THUNDERSTORMS APPROACHING EASTERN LONG ISLAND SOUND...

At 641 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms capable of
producing winds up to 30 kt and small hail. These thunderstorms were
located along a line extending from 7 nm NW of New London Harbor to
near The Thimbles, moving E at 20 kt.

Thunderstorms will be near...
  Falkner Island, Madison Reef, the mouth of the Connecticut River,
  Westbrook Center, and Essex Village around 645 PM EDT.
  Six Mile Reef, Long Sand Shoal, and Niantic Bay around 650 PM EDT.
  Stonington and New London Harbor around 655 PM EDT.
  Fishers Island Sound around 705 PM EDT.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Mariners can expect gusty winds up to 30 kt, locally higher seas,
small hail, and lightning strikes. Boaters should seek safe harbor
immediately until these storms pass.
