Issued by NWS Pendleton, OR
356 FNUS56 KPDT 261340 FWFPDT Fire Weather Planning Forecast for NE Oregon and SE Washington National Weather Service Pendleton OR 640 AM PDT Wed Jun 26 2024 .DISCUSSION...Shortwave trough is moving across the region this morning and bringing areas of scattered showers, mostly in the higher terrain but a few weak echoes noted moving towards lower elevation locations. Thunder chances possible both across the eastern mountains of Oregon and along the eastern slopes of the Washington Cascades. Expecting any storms that do occur should have some accompanying moisture, but best chances at seeing potential dry lightning would be weakening storms coming off the Cascades. Breezy winds generally gusting between 20-40 mph today, isolated stronger gusts for Columbia Basin/Simcoe Highlands/Kittitas Valley. Some lower RH`s into the low 20`s to teens possible for eastern Deschutes County through Grant County, along with northern portions of the Columbia Basin, but not expected to warrant red flag conditions at this time. As system continues across region tomorrow, winds remain breezy though not as strong and RH`s increase. ***Winds are 20 foot 10 minute averages*** ***CWR-chance of wetting rain 0.10 or greater*** High elevation Haines Index observed Wednesday June 26 Salem...5 Medford...3 Spokane...4 Boise...6 ORZ639-262330- East Slopes of the Northern Oregon Cascades- 640 AM PDT Wed Jun 26 2024 .TODAY... * Sky/weather.........Mostly cloudy then becoming partly cloudy.
