Area Forecast Discussion

.Discussion...
A trough will remain over the Islands through Thursday. Latest
satellite data shows a cluster of thunderstorms building across
the Samoa Island chain. Expect this unstable pattern to persist
for as long as the trough lingers near. Numerous to widespread
showers as well as isolated thunderstorms will hold in the
forecast through Thursday. A gentle breeze will also remain during
this time.

By Friday, model data depicts moisture and convection diminishing
over the territory as the aforementioned trough weakens.
Thereafter, an east wind will build for the rest of the forecast
period. Scattered showers and east winds of 15 to 25 mph will
prevail through the new week.

Wave heights of 8 to 10 feet are currently observed via satellite
data. A high surf advisory remains in effect as previous swells
continues to move through the area. We anticipated high surf
warning impacts yesterday and today, but thankfully swells
weren`t as strong as last week when ocean debris and extremely
high surfs were observed. Wave heights will gradually diminish
through Wednesday, before completely subsiding to 5 to 7 feet
Thursday.

Rough conditions may briefly diminish Thursday, however, east
winds building Friday may produce rough seas once again. Trade
winds will hold hazardous conditions for seas Saturday and through
the new week.
