364 FNUS56 KPQR 112232 FWFPQR Fire Weather Planning Forecast for NW Oregon and SW Washington National Weather Service Portland OR 332 PM PDT Tue Jun 11 2024 .DISCUSSION...Weak cold front is decaying while crossing the Cascades this afternoon. Strong but cool high pressure behind this system is leading to strong west to northwest wind gusts this afternoon; this will continue into this evening before slowly diminishing. Much drier air mass Wednesday will lead to lower RH, and low-level flow will turn more northerly as thermal low pressure strengthens near the OR/CA border. Subsidence inversions should only lead to modest RH recovery above thermal belts Wednesday night, but recovery will be better in the valleys. Thursday will be seasonably warm and dry, but with increasing west winds as a cold front approaches from the Pacific. This front will move through Thursday night or early Friday, kicking off a period of cool, unsettled, and showery weather that will last through the weekend.
