.SHORT TERM /THROUGH MONDAY/...
Issued at 130 PM CDT Sun Jun 30 2024

Thanks to a cooler area of surface high pressure behind the
front that moved through the area last night into this morning,
and cloud cover, temperatures across the region today were in
the middle 70s to middle 80s. In general, it is much nicer to
be outside today compared to yesterday. The region will stay
under the influence of this cooler and drier airmass through
this evening and into the day Monday, for most of the Ozarks.

An upper level ridge over the plains will move east as the cool
surface high does likewise for Monday. This will allow a slow
return of warmer more moist air to the region though this will
occur for mainly the for areas along and west of I-49 where
highs will climb to around 90 degrees, while areas towards
central Missouri and the eastern Ozarks should see one more day
of middle temperatures with highs around 80.

A short was riding over the ridge Monday may bring some showers
or a few rumbles of thunder to locations mainly north of
Highway 54 and west of Highway 65. Most locations elsewhere
should remain dry but may see impacts on afternoon temperatures
depending on cloud cover as the peak of the ridge makes its way
east.

.LONG TERM /MONDAY NIGHT THROUGH SUNDAY/...
Issued at 130 PM CDT Sun Jun 30 2024

With the peak of the ridge east of the area, the Ozarks will see
upper level southwesterly flow. Southerly surface winds will
also develop with the pressure gradient tightening during the
day, allow for gusty winds to occur Monday night into the day
Tuesday.

The increase warm air and moisture advection will result in
temperatures and dew points once again climbing into the
uncomfortable range. Highs Tuesday will climb into the 90-97
degree range with a return of heat index values in the 97 to 107
degree ranges. Similar conditions are then expected through
Thursday with the pattern changing little through the middle of
the week.

A cold front will approach the Ozarks from the northern plains
Tuesday night into wednesday morning, but is expected to slow
and slowly sag through the region through Friday morning. This
slow progression will allow for shower and storm chances through
the end of the week. An upper level storm system moving across
the northern plains Thursday night will bring a more dynamic
front into the region which will help push the earlier front
out of the region Friday.

A return of more mild temperatures and occurs to start the
weekend, though a rather unusually active pattern for summer
could bring additional periods of rain to the area for next
Sunday into early next week.
