Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Southwest Arkansas...
Northwest Louisiana...East Texas...and Extreme Southeast Oklahoma
National Weather Service Shreveport LA
500 AM CDT Sun Jun 16 2024

.DISCUSSION...

Winds of change are blowing from the SE rather light to start,
but deepening aloft up to 10kft and loading in the tropical
moisture. In fact, a few showers just diminished in SE OK in the
Idabel vicinity. This same area of showers moved across Toledo
Bend near sunset and then moved to Carthage, Longview and Mount
Pleasant late this evening. And this is a good sign that the
Easterlies are in business. Another round of showers and isolated
thunderstorms will be pushing inland from the coast to near
Alexandria by this mid afternoon, and wrapping up to just past
Monroe around sunset. Amounts will be light, but this will be a
big jump from the tiny cluster of showers earlier this morning.
The upper ridge is anchored over Atlanta, and will continue
pumping Gulf moisture in our direct through midweek. For us mainly
afternoon convection, but some earlier and like tonight, some
overnight. Tenth to quarter inch amounts will be sparse today,
picking up to near an inch widespread through Tuesday. Then mid
to late week may see some more substantial cyclone activity in the
Gulf headed our way.
