Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service San Angelo TX

...New AVIATION...

.SHORT TERM...
(Today and tonight)
Issued at 221 AM CDT Sun Sep 15 2024

High clouds from tropical storm Ileana in S. Baja will bring
high cloudiness along and south of an Ozona to Brownwood line
today. An isolated shower or thunderstorm is possible late
afternoon and evening...along and east of a Junction to Coleman
line. These should be short-lived, if they occur. Otherwise warm
conditions continue with highs in the mid an upper 90s and lows
in the upper 60s and lower 70s.

&&

.LONG TERM...
(Monday through Saturday)
Issued at 347 AM CDT Sun Sep 15 2024

Mid/upper level ridge will persist across the southern Plains
through the middle of the week, resulting in dry conditions and
above normal temperatures across the area. Afternoon highs will
be in the low to mid 90s, with overnight lows in the upper 60s
and lower 70s. The medium range models continue to show an upper
trough developing across the western CONUS through mid week and
gradually translating eastward with time. This pattern change
would result in a breakdown of the ridge and bring an increase in
rain chances towards the end of the week and into the following
weekend. Details are uncertain this far out, but will continue
with low rain chances beyond Thursday. Temperatures will still
remain near to slightly above normal Thursday and Friday, then
slightly cooler for Saturday.
