.DISCUSSION...A system pivoting through the Four Corners region today
will bring a chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms this
afternoon and evening (highest threat between 1200-2000). Winds
through the remainder of the morning favored out of the southeast,
with models suggesting a quick shift to a northwest to north
direction around 1300-1400. These winds will generally be around
7-15 mph with gusts up to around 20 mph, but erratic directions
and increased gusts will be possible as a result of outflow from
any shower or thunderstorm near enough to the burn site. Activity
will wane this evening with dry conditions overnight. On Sunday
the system continues to depart, but a widely isolated afternoon
shower will be possible (less than 10% chance). Drier conditions
then largely anticipated the remainder of the week, with
precipitation chances on any given day also generally at or below
10%. Max clearing index values will be excellent today as a result
of favorable mixing heights and transport winds. More marginal
values are forecast Sunday and Tuesday with more limited mixing
heights and transport winds, but most of the next several days
expected to see max clearing index values at or above 550 or so.
