Surf Zone Forecast
National Weather Service Tallahassee FL
1148 AM EDT Mon Jun 3 2024

.THE SURF ZONE FORECAST GENERAL OUTLOOK...

The West Tampa Buoy (42036) was reporting a dominant wave period of 8
seconds, suggesting a long-fetched southerly swell supportive of
maintaining a high-risk Rip Current Statement for Franklin County
despite relatively flat conditions observed. Prevailing onshore winds
should pick up this afternoon and pose some threat for rip currents.
Panhandle beaches aim to see surf heights up to 2 ft with the Orange
Beach Buoy (42012) reporting a 6-sec wave period. A longshore
component to the wind favors more of a moderate risk at St Joseph
State Park where yellow flags are flying. Overall winds and surf will
decrease through about mid-week, leading to a moderate risk of rip
currents for all beaches.

Based on communication with area beach officials, the following flags
are flying at area beaches:

Walton........................RED
Bay...........................YELLOW
State Park Gulf Beaches.......YELLOW
West Facing Gulf Beaches......RED
South Facing Gulf Beaches.....RED
Franklin......................RED
