THUNDERSTORMS WITH DANGEROUS LIGHTNING. RISK...Limited. AREA...Mainly east of I-49 corridor. ONSET...Ongoing...ending by 7 PM. SIGNIFICANT WINDS. RISK...Limited. AREA...Eastern Oklahoma and Western Arkansas. ONSET...Ongoing...ending by 7 PM. DISCUSSION... There is limited risk of thunderstorms across portions of western Arkansas and possibly far neighboring far eastern Oklahoma this afternoon, with the best chance staying east of the I-49 corridor. Gusty winds and brief heavy downpours would accompany any storm that develops. South to southeast winds will gust 25 to 35 mph thru the afternoon before subsiding this evening. SPOTTER AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT ACTION STATEMENT... Spotter Activation Not Expected. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday. WEDNESDAY...Thunderstorm Potential. THURSDAY thru SATURDAY...No Hazards. SUNDAY...Dangerous Heat Potential. MONDAY...Thunderstorm Potential...Dangerous Heat Potential. EXTENDED DISCUSSION... There is a limited risk of thunderstorms across northwest Arkansas and northeast Oklahoma on Wednesday afternoon. Severe weather is not expected, but the storms that form could produce gusty winds and brief heavy downpours. High pressure aloft will make a return to the region for the weekend and into early next week. Triple digit heat index values will be common. Heat headlines may be required by Sunday or Monday as above normal temperatures continue and humidity increases across the region.
