A rather rinse-and-repeat forecast is on tap for the short-term. The
shortwave trough responsible for this evening`s shower and
thunderstorm activity across eastern New Mexico and the Texas
Panhandle will continue to move east into Oklahoma today, leaving
our area in weak northwest flow aloft. Partly to mostly sunny skies
will allow temperatures to climb back into the mid and upper 90s,
with some locations in the western Big Country and Concho Valley
potentially reaching triple digits. Similar to yesterday, isolated
to scattered thunderstorms will form well off to our west across the
southern High Plains and the higher terrain of Southwest Texas
during the afternoon and evening hours. Unfortunately, hi-resolution
guidance consistently shows this activity dissipating as it starts
to approach our area so local impacts should be limited to some
increased cloud cover, especially across the Big Country. Overnight
lows will continue on their mild trend in the low to mid 70s.

Expect mainly hot and dry conditions through early next week as an
upper level ridge builds across the Southern Plains. Highs will be
in the 90s to around 102 with lows only cooling into the 70s. Please
follow heat safety precautions. An influx of tropical moisture from
the Gulf of Mexico and weak upper level disturbances will bring a
low chance of showers and a few thunderstorms Thursday and Friday.
Temperatures will be cooler with highs in the mid 80s to lower 90s
due to potential rainfall and cloud cover.

VFR conditions currently present across the area. Patchy low clouds
are trying to build across the Hill Country and stream northwest
into our southern terminals. Current observations are keeping most
locations under these clouds at low-end VFR so will keep a few hours
of this at KJCT early this morning. Otherwise, everywhere else is
expected to remain VFR for the next 24 hours. In the next few hours,
winds will begin to pick up out of the south before they start to
back more to the southeast this afternoon. Winds will increase again
overnight with gusts between 18-21 kts possible at most sites
after 05Z.
