Today and Tuesday sees a down trend in overall afternoon thunderstorm coverage. Scattered to numerous storms will favor development over the west-central mountains and the Gila NF, with lesser isolated to scattered coverage of the northern mountains and south-central mountains. This will bode well for the Hermit`s Peak/Calf Canyon and South Fork, Salt and Blue 2 fires. However, it will remain a day where just one storm can still bring the risk flash flooding on these susceptible burn areas. The heat rises Tuesday and Wednesday with 90s and 100s for many lower elevation areas, but overnight recoveries will remain fair to good most areas. Thunderstorm coverage trends back up Wednesday with slow and erratic storm motions bringing a heightened risk for flash flooding that continues Thursday, albeit with faster moving storms. Drier air brings a down trend in storm coverage Friday.
