.DISCUSSION...
South southeast winds will be breezy again today, but not as strong
as yesterday. An upper level trough passing to the north of New
Mexico will draw unseasonably rich subtropical moisture northward
over the state with precipitable water climbing over 200 percent of
the normal value for this time of year. Numerous showers and
thunderstorms will develop in the area of the fire by late this
afternoon, then continue through the evening. Scattered showers and
thunderstorms are forecast after midnight. After isolated showers
and thunderstorms Saturday morning, numerous showers and
thunderstorms are forecast to return Saturday afternoon and evening.
Your two-day rain total between today and Saturday will probably be
around a 0.25-0.50"; however, some thunderstorms both days will be
capable of rain at rates over 1 inch per half hour, so the rainfall
total could be significantly higher. Moisture will then recycle with
daily rounds of scattered showers and thunderstorms each afternoon
and evening during the first half of the coming week. After a high
temperature around 5 degrees below the 1991-2020 average today
through Sunday, afternoon highs will rebound above normal by Tuesday.
