...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 3 AM EDT EARLY THIS MORNING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...A portion of central Virginia, including the following
  counties and independent city, City of Richmond, Hanover and
  Henrico.

* WHEN...Until 300 AM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 102 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain. Minor
    flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the
    advisory area. Between 0.5 and 1.5 inches of rain have
    fallen.
  - Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are expected
    over the area. This additional rain will result in minor
    flooding.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Richmond, Mechanicsville, Highland Springs, Virginia Union
    University, East Highland Park, Lakeside, Glen Allen, Laurel,
    Chamberlayne, Atlee, Montrose, Fair Oaks, Solomons Store,
    Longdale and Dumbarton.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding. Do not stay in areas subject to flooding when
water begins rising.
