Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Boise ID
220 AM MDT Tue Sep 24 2024

.SHORT TERM...Today through Thursday night...An upper level
ridge centered directly over our area will move east today,
allowing SW flow aloft to move in. This will help to increase
temperatures through Wed, with readings around 15 degrees above
normal Wed. This will also bring enough moisture to warrant a
15-30% chance of showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms to
northern areas Wed late afternoon and night as a shortwave
trough moves by. Breezy conditions will develop Wed aft/eve,
especially in SE Oregon and in the higher terrain of SW Idaho.
The cold front associated with that trough will move through Wed
night, resulting in cooler temperatures (about 5 degrees above
normal) Thursday.

.LONG TERM...Friday through Tuesday...Relatively weak and dry
flow aloft, changing from WSW to WNW through time, will
dominate the long term period. No precipitation is expected.
Temps will warm slightly Friday through the weekend to 5-10
degrees above normal before cooling back down to just a few
degrees above normal Monday and Tuesday.
