High-based gusty showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop this afternoon. However, shower/storm coverage is expected to be less than yesterday. Wind gusts to 40 mph will be possible with the passing showers and storms. It will be dry at the surface with relative humidities in the teens this afternoon. Parts of the northeast plains will see breezy conditions at times with gusts up to 25 mph. LONG TERM DISCUSSION...Wednesday through Saturday... Afternoon thunderstorms will be more widespread Wednesday and Thursday, and generally on the wetter side with locally heavy rain. Temperatures will remain above normal through most of the forecast period. Thunderstorm coverage will become more isolated Friday onward, with greatest coverage in the mountains, and slightly cooler conditions by Saturday. Winds will be light overall, although slightly breezier conditions can be expected in the high country Thursday and Friday.
