High pressure will produce mostly sunny skies today with light terrain driven winds. These winds will shift to the south by sunset and increase at 10 to 20 mph overnight. Gusty south to southwest winds are expected on Saturday with localized gusts 40 to 45 mph possible in the central and northern Champlain Valley. As temperatures warm into the upper 60s to mid 70s by mid afternoon, minimum relative humidity values will be in the 28 to 35% range, but winds remain light. In addition to the gusty winds on Saturday, occasional showers with embedded heavier downpours are likely, resulting in high confidence of a widespread wetting rainfall by Sunday. Rainfall amounts will vary from one location to another, but generally range between 0.50 to 1.50 inches by Sunday. No critical fire weather conditions are anticipated over the next 5 to 7 days, as our active pattern continues into the upcoming weekend.
