Area Forecast Discussion

.DISCUSSION...
Through Monday night...

Dewpoint depressions are rather narrow out in the east and
northwest zones, so we cannot rule out patchy fog development for
area river valleys or our far eastern counties early this
morning. Otherwise, look for mostly sunny skies today, but
increasing high clouds late. Highs will be around normal in the
lower to mid 70s.

Tonight we will see height falls associated with a trough moving
across Canada. This will push a weak front through the region late
tonight through Monday morning. Low level moisture is lacking and
downslope flow will prevail, so we do not expect much more than
sprinkles at best for most areas behind the frontal passage.
However, we added (over model guidance) a slight chance of showers
over the east Monday morning as the trough axis does strengthen
just a bit as it moves into the high plains. Look for temperatures
Monday to be just a bit cooler than today with breezy to locally
gusty northwest winds (15-25 mph gusts). BT

Tuesday through Sunday...

Benign weather will persist for much of the extended forecast
period. Warmer than normal temperatures associated with upper
ridging will be the main story. High temperatures will climb into
the mid-80s, Wednesday and Thursday. Models are hinting that a
cold front may pass through the region, Thursday afternoon. The
result of this would only be a cool down of temperatures, back
into the 70s, Friday through the weekend. The chance for
precipitation throughout the extended forecast is very low.
