The center of the Subtropical Ridge drifts to the west over Texas
today and Sunday while another tropical disturbance approaches the
northeastern Mexico coast on Sunday. NHC has a 50% chance of
tropical cyclone development. The airmass is subsident underneath
the Ridge with most areas remaining rain free. However, on Sunday
when the disturbance is closest, there is deeper moisture along and
south of the US 90 corridor. As a result, expect some showers and
thunderstorms to develop due to heating over those areas on Sunday.
Seasonably hot high temperatures and heat indices are expected.

The upper level ridge will be the main influence to the forecast
across the region through the long term forecast. The forecast
remains mostly dry. Low and high temperatures are forecast to
increase next week. Humid conditions are also expected, and with the
elevated dew points we will watch closely for heat index values
pushing near or into Heat Advisory Criteria across portions of the
region.

VFR skies become MVFR CIGs overnight with brief IFR early Saturday
morning. Then, mixing will return skies to VFR by midday through
Saturday night. Southeasterly winds 10 KTs or less prevail with a
few higher gusts possible on Saturday.
