  Floyd River at Alton affecting Plymouth and Sioux Counties.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

* WHAT...Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.
  This approaches the flood of record.

* WHERE...Floyd River at Merrill.

* WHEN...Until Wednesday morning.

* IMPACTS...At 20.5 feet, The railroad tracks at the bridge 750 feet
  upstream of the gage are flooded.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 12:00 AM CDT Sunday the stage was 20.3 feet.
  - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
    ending at 12:00 AM CDT Sunday was 20.3 feet.
  - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest near 20.6
    feet this morning. It will then fall below flood stage
    Tuesday morning.
  - Flood stage is 12.0 feet.

* WHAT...Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.
  This approaches the flood of record.

* WHERE...Floyd River at Alton.

* WHEN...Until late tomorrow evening.

* IMPACTS...At 20.0 feet, The levees in Ashton may begin to be
  overtopped flooding some nearby businesses. Portions of Division
  St may also begin to flood. The bridge on 3rd Ave may also be
  closed.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 12:45 AM CDT Sunday the stage was 19.6 feet.
  - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
    ending at 12:45 AM CDT Sunday was 26.0 feet.
  - Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage
    Sunday evening and continue falling to 7.1 feet Thursday
    evening.
  - Flood stage is 12.0 feet.
