Weather Summary for Portions of the Central Plains
National Weather Service Hastings NE
948 PM CDT Wed Jun 26 2024

Focusing only on these next 36 hours or so...our number one weather
concern is another round of potentially severe thunderstorms
particularly Thursday evening into early Friday morning.
However...taking things one step at a time...and starting with
tonight...the vast majority of our coverage area will likely remain
dry until at least 2 or 3 AM. Anytime after that though...scattered
showers and overall-weak thunderstorms will begin pushing into our
area from the west and northwest...with this initial round of
activity lasting well into the daylight hours Thursday...and maybe
even into early afternoon. Then...the majority of Thursday afternoon
and early evening should feature a lull in storm chances...as south
winds gusting as high as 25 to 35 MPH helps high temperatures warm
into the upper 70s to mid 80s. Then...at some point later in the
evening...but most likely not until after 9 PM...another round of
scattered thunderstorm activity is expected to arrive from the
west...with some of these storms probably becoming severe and posing
a risk for large hail and/or damaging winds as they gradually work
across our coverage area into the early Friday morning hours. Please
note that there is still some uncertainty regarding EXACTLY what
parts of our area are most favored for possible severe storms...but
anywhere in our area at least stands a chance...and as a
result...nearly our entire area is currently under a Slight Risk of
severe storms...level 2 out of 5...so please be weather-aware
Thursday evening into early Friday morning.
