After some weak showers and isolated thunderstorms this
morning...partly sunny skies...strong southerly winds and hot
temperatures can be expected across the region this afternoon. A
small chance for a severe storm is possible mainly northwest of the
Nebraska Tri-Cities this afternoon and evening...although most areas
will likely remain storm free. A cold front will bring a better
chance for showers and Thunderstorms Tuesday afternoon and
evening...some of which could be marginally severe. In addition to
the severe potential...widespread heavy rainfall will be
possible...with rainfall totals of 1 to 2 inches expected by
Wednesday evening...along with locally higher amounts of 2 to 4
inches. Noticeably cooler air is also expected behind the cold front
Tuesday...with much of the local area forecast to see high
temperatures climb only into the 60s. Temperatures will then
moderate and warm into the upcoming weekend...with
additional...daily...thunderstorm chances across various portions of
the local area.
