Weather Summary for Portions of the Central Plains

A more active weather pattern returns to the local area today and
will continue off and on through the end of next week. For
today...expect a few thunderstorms in spots throughout the
day...increasing in coverage late this evening and continuing into
the overnight hours. Some of these storms late tonight will likely
be severe...with wind gusts to 70 mph and quarter sized hail.
Additional chances for severe weather is anticipated for
Saturday...primarily between the hours of 5 PM and midnight. Winds
gusts to 60 mph and quarter sized hail will be the main hazards
Saturday afternoon and evening. Fathers day will be mostly dry and
hot across the local area...with heat index values near 100 degrees
expected by mid-afternoon. Thunderstorms chances will then likely
return Sunday evening...although widespread severe weather is not
expected across the area Sunday evening. Off and on chances for
thunderstorms will then continue across the local area for much of
next week...with above normal temperatures to start the week...and
more pleasant temperatures in the upper 70s and lower 80s
anticipated for the middle and latter portion of next week.
