331 FXUS63 KGLD 250856 AFDGLD Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Goodland KS 256 AM MDT Wed Sep 25 2024 .KEY MESSAGES... - Near average temperatures and dry conditions expected through the upcoming weekend. Climatology. - There is the potential for a system to move through at the beginning of next week, bringing near to below average temperatures. && .SHORT TERM /THROUGH FRIDAY NIGHT/... Issued at 130 PM MDT Tue Sep 24 2024 Synoptic Overview: An upper level low (centered over Iowa at 18Z) will progress southward into MO-IL (today).. then stall invof the Central MS River Valley (Wed). Meanwhile, a pronounced upper level ridge over the western CONUS will shift eastward across the Rockies (tonight) and High Plains (Wed). Expect a clearing trend today followed by clear skies and a modest warming trend on Wednesday.. as the aforementioned ridge shifts eastward over the region. Breezy (15-30 mph) N-NNW winds this afternoon will become light/variable this evening and overnight, shifting to the S at 5-15 mph during the day on Wed.. as the MSLP pattern re-orients in response to the development of a modest lee trough in Colorado. && .LONG TERM /SATURDAY THROUGH TUESDAY/... Issued at 254 AM MDT Wed Sep 25 2024 For the weekend, fairly benign weather is forecast with the ridge still over the area. Temperatures are forecast to warm into the mid to upper 80`s each day. There could be some briefly critical fire weather conditions in Eastern Colorado on sunday, but looks to be marginal at best. It`ll depend on how the system to the north advances and how much it can tighten the pressure and height gradients over the area. At the end of the weekend and into the beginning of next week, the ridge is forecast to break down with an upper low moving through the Northern CONUS and bringing a cold front through the area. When it the front does move through, temperatures would likely lower back into the 60`s and 70`s. Precipitation chances look to be very low with relatively dry air forecast to remain over the area. && .AVIATION /06Z TAFS THROUGH 06Z THURSDAY/...
