...ON THIS DATE IN WEATHER HISTORY...

In 2004, a localized microburst caused 63 mph winds near the
Goodland airport.  At the same time during the mid afternoon
microburst, winds only a half mile away at the weather office were
less than 35 mph.

In 2005, a 64 mph thunderstorm wind broke a power pole south of
Goodland during the late evening.  Earlier, a 59 mph wind was
reported in Trenton, Nebraska, in Hitchcock County.  No damage was
reported however.
