...ON THIS DATE IN WEATHER HISTORY...

In 2004, flooding occurred on the Ladder Creek across northern
Wichita County Kansas. Highway 27 was closed for a time, as well
as a number of rural roads in the county, where standing water was
slow to drain. The flooding was the result of heavy rains which fell
the previous night during a thunderstorm in southern Wallace County.

In 2007, a heat burst occurred at Tribune Kansas during the
morning, accompanied by winds of 67 mph. The temperature rose
from 77 degrees to 95 degrees in 15 minutes around 8 am.
