...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL IMPACT NORTHWESTERN JACKSON...EAST
CENTRAL SWAIN AND WEST CENTRAL HAYWOOD COUNTIES THROUGH 500 PM EDT...

At 433 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 10
miles north of Sylva, or near Balsam Mountain in the Smoky
Mountains, moving south at 10 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 45 mph and pea size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to outdoor objects is
         possible.

Locations impacted include...
Cherokee, The Blue Ridge Parkway between Smoky Mountains and Balsam
Gap, and in the Smoky Mountains near Oconaluftee, Balsam Mountain,
and Cataloochee.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

Persons in campgrounds should consider seeking sturdy shelter until
this storm passes.
