Stagnant conditions are expected to set up aloft over central California today and Tuesday. This will drive warmer, drier conditions near the surface, with afternoon temperatures five to ten degrees above average today and up to twelve degrees above normal tomorrow. Relative humidity is expected to fall into the upper teens to low 20s across the San Joaquin Valley and Sierra Nevada foothills and dropping into single digits in the Kern County Desert. Light wind with terrain driven influence will dominate the period. A cooling period will extend into the region starting Wednesday, however temperatures will remain above normal. Relative humidity values are expected to improve slightly with the decreasing temperatures, but will fall again in the latter portions of the week.
