Upper level winds will shift from east-west to southwest flow Friday as a weak upper level trough affects central California as it passes through the Pacific NW. A warming trend will start on Friday as a result, where afternoon temperatures will be 2 to 4 degrees above normal. A strong upper level high pressure system is likely to build in over the western US from the east Pacific toward the end of the weekend. Triple digit heat is expected to return by Saturday because of this system, with 105 degree maximums possible beginning Tuesday.
