655 FXUS63 KICT 261729 AFDICT Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Wichita KS 1229 PM CDT Thu Sep 26 2024 ...Aviation Update... .KEY MESSAGES... - Dry weather for at least the next 7-10 days. - Near to above average temperatures for at least the next 7-10 days, although cooler weather behind a strong cold front next Tuesday. && .DISCUSSION... Issued at 200 AM CDT Thu Sep 26 2024 Per deterministic and ensemble consensus, quiet and mostly dry weather is anticipated for at least the next 7-10 days (if not longer), as atmospheric heights remain above average across Mid- America, and there are no big storm systems on the horizon impacting the region. All eyes will be on the remnants of Hurricane Helene the next few days, as it interacts with a stalled upper low currently spinning over the east-central CONUS. Model trends associated with this interaction continue to keep rain chances east of the Kansas region. Consequently, with the exception of possibly an isolated shower over extreme eastern Kansas Friday and Friday night, rain is not expected across Kansas with this system. Furthermore, progged atmospheric thickness will support seasonable temperatures to somewhat above average temperatures for most for at least the next 7-10 days, with forecast highs mostly in the upper 70s and 80s. The only coolish day will likely be Tuesday in wake of a strong cold front. This cool down should be short-lived though, with readings back into upper 70s and 80s by Wednesday-Thursday of next week. && .AVIATION /18Z TAFS THROUGH 18Z FRIDAY/...
