...ON THIS DATE IN WEATHER HISTORY...

In 1989, evening severe thunderstorms struck parts of
Iowa, producing golfball sized hail in May City, located
in extreme Northwest Iowa around 40 miles southeast of
Sioux Falls South Dakota.  Sixty six mph gusts were
reported around 15 miles northwest of Dubuque.
