.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 1000 PM EDT Sun Jun 16 2024

Currently - A surface ridge running parallel to the Atlantic
Coast, and along the northern Gulf Coast, in concert with falling
pressure over Central America has resulted in moderate to fresh
easterly breezes across the Keys and surrounding waters this
evening. Deep layered ridging is planted across the broader area.
Despite ample moisture through much of the column, as indicated
in this evenings sounding, there is a fat layer of drier air below
700 mb with a nose of inhibition based at a low 960 mb. As a
result, there has been a near complete lack of convective activity
within the forecast area. The steady flow has maintained warm and
rather humid conditions with temperatures remaining in the mid 80s
with dew points in the mid 70s.

Short Term Update - Robust surface ridging will remain across the
southeast through the overnight period. This along with the
Central American gyre continuing to deepen will keep moderate to
fresh mostly easterly breezes across the Keys. Deep layered
ridging will remain in control. That said, forecast soundings
suggest that the lower levels will moisten and destabilize a bit
through the night. This may open the door for a few showers and
thunderstorms. Will maintain slight chance of showers and
thunderstorms. The healthy flow will keep overnight lows broadly in
the lower 80s with dew points remaining in the mid to upper 70s.
