A complex of storms moved across southwest Mississippi and the adjacent parishes of Louisiana. There was widespread tree damage across multiple parishes and counties but more focused damage and possible tornado paths occurred across Amite and Pike Counties in Mississippi, and St Helena and Tangipahoa parishes in Louisiana. Additional information with greater details will be added over the next few days after survey crews double check data. There is the possibility that additional surveys may be needed as more informations comes forward. .Kentwood-Lewiston, LA Tornado... Rating: EF-1 Estimated Peak Wind: 100 mph Path Length /statute/: 5.16 miles Path Width /maximum/: 300 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: 06/04/2024 Start Time: 05:08 PM CDT Start Location: 2 E Kentwood / Tangipahoa Parish LA Start Lat/Lon: 30.94 / -90.47 End Date: 06/04/2024 End Time: 05:16 PM CDT End Location: 7 ENE Kentwood / Tangipahoa Parish LA End Lat/Lon: 30.96 / -90.47 Survey Summary: This EF-1 tornado touched down just east of Kentwood north of Highway 38 where a snapped pine tree was observed. The tornado continued over mostly open fields until Highway 1054 where it uprooted and snapped numerous trees. It then continued east to W Lewiston Rd where the most impressive tree damage was observed. There, almost every tree in a 300 yard swath was either snapped or uprooted. Nearby, a shed with tin roofing was compromised and sent tin across the field to the east of the road. The tornado continued eastward across a field and inaccessible trees before making it to Gregot Rd. Here, almost every tree was either snapped, uprooted, or had large branches twisted and broken. The tornado continued to the east before it ended near R Booty Rd where snapped trees were observed. .Gillsburg-Osyka, MS Tornado... Rating: EF-1 Estimated Peak Wind: 95 mph Path Length /statute/: 16.15 miles Path Width /maximum/: 275 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: 06/04/2024 Start Time: 04:55 PM CDT Start Location: 2.4 WSW Gillsburg / Amite County MS Start Lat/Lon: 31.01 / -90.69 End Date: 06/04/2024 End Time: 05:11 PM CDT End Location: 3.92 ENE Osyka / Pike County MS End Lat/Lon: 31.04 / -90.42 Survey Summary: An EF-1 tornado embedded in a QLCS started just north of the Louisiana/Mississippi State line in Gillsburg. It uprooted and snapped hardwoods along Travis Rd and Highway 568. The tornado traveled eastward, snapping and uprooting many trees along Highway 571 and 584. The tornado crossed into Pike County, continuing to snap trees just north of the Osyka exit along I-55. The tornado continued eastward just north of Osyka where it continued to snap and uproot trees. The tornado lifted near Centerville Rd and Charlie Rhodus Rd, where sporadic uproots were noted. .St Helena and Tangipahoa Parishes Thunderstorm Wind... Estimated Peak Wind : 85 to 95 mph Path Length /statute/: 32 miles Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: 06/04/2024 Start Time: 04:46 PM CDT Start Location: 4.35 NW Pine Grove / St Helena Parish LA Start Lat/Lon: 30.75 / -90.81 End Date: 06/04/2024 End Time: 05:35 PM CDT End Location: 3.96 ESE Husser / Tangipahoa Parish LA End Lat/Lon: 30.68 / -90.28 Survey Summary: At this time the path of damage was too sporadic to classify as a tornado. In addition, almost all of the damage pointed to the east. Additional information with details of the damage will be added in the next few days.
