.SHORT TERM...Today through Wednesday night.

A cold start to the day with low temperatures this morning below
freezing for most of the region. Broad trough energy centers
across the Pacific NW today with the southern tip of the trough
clipping northern Elko county. Much of Elko county will see
increasing clouds this afternoon, with isolated thunderstorms
possible over portions of far northern Elko county. Otherwise,
mostly sunny and dry today for the remainder of northern and all
of central NV. Temperatures will be trending warmer today onward,
however low temperatures tonight into Wednesday morning will
remain below normal, with many valley locations hovering around
the freezing mark. Clouds build in over the region Wednesday
afternoon, however conditions remain dry.

.LONG TERM...Thursday through next Tuesday.

General southwesterly flow over the forecast area the bulk of the
long term period as troughing dominates the upper pattern over
the western U.S. Warming trend continues thru the weekend with
temperatures indicated to moderate some early next week yet still
remaining warm. Trough deepens Thursday allowing a more south-
southwesterly flow aloft to bring high and mid level moisture
into eastern Nevada. Weather looks to remain dry although
increases in cloud cover will be noted. Trough progresses east
Friday with a west-southwest flow regime settling back in over
the Great Basin and weather remaining dry and benign. Warming
trend continues thru the weekend as indicated with daytime high
temperatures reaching the upper 80s to upper 90s. Winds will be
light and mainly terrain driven thru Saturday with the typical
afternoon breezes present. A deep upper low approaching the PacNW
will increase winds across the region early next week but dry
conditions look to prevail at this time.
